The man with 3 golden guns...

I previously posted a pic of the first Golden Gun Award I received at Bang Said The Gun's excellent poetry night at The Roebuck Pub in Borough. Since then, I have won 2 more. Here they are for your eyes!

This is the second Golden Gun Award I received at Bang Said The Gun. I find it adds a little extra pepper to any meal I cook in it...

...and this is the third and final Golden Gun Award I received before I decided to 'llow the slamming at Bang to preserve my 3 in 3 record! I was considering this one as a gift for W an' K on their big, expensive, publicly-funded day, but thought it could be misinterpreted as some sort of comment on the empire.

Thanks to everyone at Bang for putting on top-notch poetry nights that are both intellectually enlightening and downright bonkers at the very same time, in equal measure.

You can see me return to the Bang Said The Gun slam stage alongside a whole host of talented poets and comedians at the Meadlowlands Festival in the last Bank Holiday weekend of May (somewhere in a field described on this website).

The poet with the golden gun...

Last night's Bang Said The Gun went down with a small crowd of lyrical gun-slingers waging a war of metaphor and a killing spree of simile.

The limelight was shared by some of the capital's hottest emerging stand-up poets. Angry Sam dropped a hot 10 minute set, touching on the hot topics of the moment with a skilful blend of critique and comedy. Anna Le brought some swagger to her performance building towards an epic 'Jimi' piece - very sweet and honest performance from a young, talented lyricist.

Other notables were Kate Modern's sexy diatribes about debauched liaisons and a nameless slammers pop at Facebook abusers. However, the slam could only have one winner, and as you can see from my photo at the top of the page, the trophy came home to North Weezy making it a 2 in 2 average on the slam circuit - BANGBANG indeed.

Bang! Bang!

Check out Inua Ellams at Bang Said The Gun this Thursday at the Roebuck SE1. The self-proclaimed love-child of John Keats and Mos Def will be rocking his smooth brand of afro-sensible poetry alongside Anti-poet... who I guess is a poet!

Inua performed at a Hammer&Tongue night I hosted in Camden shortly after finishing a sell-out run at the South Bank Centre - mans doin' big tings, check him out.
